SUMMARY & SCOPE:
This position is responsible for setting up and preparing the slitting machine for production, ensuring that it operates efficiently and produces high-quality slit material. The Slitter Setup role plays a critical role in minimizing downtime and maintaining optimal production flow. Shift hours 7am-3pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and configure slitting machines according to production specifications and work orders.
- Must be familiar with shim style tooling.
- Load and align metal coils properly to ensure accurate slitting.
- Install and adjust cutting blades, spacers, and guides to meet width and tolerance requirements.
- Perform test runs to verify machine settings and adjust as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor setup and operational issues.
- Collaborate with the Slitter Operator to ensure smooth production processes.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on slitting equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in slitting machine setup or similar mechanical roles in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of metal coil processing and slitting operations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to adjust and fine-tune machinery.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Team player with effective communication skills.
- Willingness to work overtime or different shifts as needed..
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Lift and carry heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, on a regular basis.
- Work in confined spaces and at heights, utilizing appropriate safety equipment.
- Bend, stoop, and reach to access equipment.
