Summary of Position:
The Senior Cost Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and managing the costs associated with the production, operations, and projects within the organization. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and financial skills, the ability to collaborate across departments, and the expertise to develop accurate cost models and forecasts. The Senior Cost Analyst will help guide strategic decision-making by providing insight into cost control measures, budgeting, and financial performance. This position will support multiple locations across Canada, Mexico and the United States.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monthly Financial Reporting
- Costing analysis of all system related inventory transactions and work orders.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) manufacturing production order costing standards - review and validation.
- D365 work in process reporting - review and validation.
- Monitor and maintain the Plant’s compliance with external auditor requirements including physical inventory observations, quarterly fluctuation analysis, cutoff procedures, fixed asset accounting, etc.
- Prepare product costing to Commercial team for intercompany sales.
- Prepare sales and margin reports by segment and location.
- Review plant labor and overhead costs.
- Review and analyze detailed sales information by product and customer to the gross profit level.
- Prepare and post COGS adjusting journal entries.
- Reconcile and prepare journal entries relating to outgoing freight costs.
- Review open sales orders for shipping cutoff.
- Prepare monthly sales and material cost forecast with input from the Commercial team.
- Review and analyze detailed cost center expenses.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Understanding of plant inventory costing, specifically moving average and standard costing.
- Review machine productivity, efficiency, production route/formula data and scrap rates.
- Review and close all production orders while performing variance analysis – standard to actual costing.
- Recognize cost savings opportunities and work with the management team to institute the controls to achieve plant performance / savings.
- Support Commercial team in preparation and validation of customer order quotations.
- Prepare and consolidate sales forecast data working with Commercial team.
- Prepare material cost estimate information based on forecasted sales.
- Develop and manage cost budgets for specific projects and overall operations.
- Monitor and forecast cost trends to support proactive decision-making.
- Provide variance analysis and explanations for budget deviations.
- Perform year-end physical inventory count for Iuka, MS and outside warehouse locations along with supporting the counts for Cambridge, Ontario and Jacksonville, Florida.
- Prepare D365 database for count.
- Prepare inventory count sheets.
- Review inventory count results and investigate discrepancies.
- Upload the physical inventory count results into D365.
- Work with internal/external auditors and prepare reports as required.
- Obtain approval for all book to physical inventory adjustments.
- Test new D365 processes.
- Document work procedures.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and financial modeling as requested by management.
- Provide inventory and costing related information for internal and external auditors.
- Support special projects or initiatives as needed, including capital investments and cost efficiency programs. on and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in Accounting or Business Administration)
- Pursuing a CPA designation (preferred)
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred, will consider other manufacturing systems experience.
- 5 years of experience in cost analysis, financial analysis, or related field, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Strong proficiency with financial software and advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros).
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or other cost-intensive industries.
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma principles and practices.
- Advanced data analysis or business intelligence tools experience (e.g., Power BI)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
