JOB SUMMARY:
The Intervention Teacher is accountable for promoting standards-based literacy and numeracy instruction across the content areas using a multi-tiered approach and evidence-based interventions. Under the general supervision of the site administrator and supported by district office personnel, serves as a specialized classroom teacher for students from across the school site who are in need of short-term academic intervention. Emphasis will be placed on addressing students’ academic needs in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach and coordinate Tier 2 & 3 academic intervention for students identified through academic assessment results;
- Facilitate the management and interpretation of data necessary to develop, implement and evaluate Tier 1, 2 & 3 interventions;
- Develops and uses core, supplemental and intervention instructional materials to address a wide range of student developmental levels using evidence-based strategies;
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior required to achieve effective participation in all activities;
- Evaluates academic growth of students and keeps appropriate records;
- Consults with site administrators, MTSS Team staff, and related staff to implement appropriate intervention supports and strategies to address unique student needs;
- Directs the work of assigned paraprofessionals;
- Participates in Student Success Team meetings to assist in coordination of intervention services for students receiving intervention services;
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, such as bulletin boards, interest centers, etc.;
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or professional growth activities;
- Participates in school and community activities, staff meetings, professional development, advisory committees, PTA, SSC and special programs as needed;
- Communicates with parents in an ongoing fashion through a variety of means;
- Performs related duties assigned by the administrator, and District staff, to assist in the function of the school.

- Maintain consistent, punctual, and regular attendance
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Multiple Subjects credential or Single Subject credential required
- Bachelor’s degree including courses to meet credential requirements required
- At least two (2) years of full time teaching experience
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- California Commission on Teacher Credentialing approved English (EL) Authorization required
- Appropriate California teaching credential required
- Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and be able to provide proof of automobile insurance
- Fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and FBI
- Post-offer physical examination and drug screening
- Current negative TB skin test results, screening, or X-ray and completed every four years thereafter
WORKING CONDITIONS:
ENVIRONMENT:
- Work at various school campuses and district office buildings in various settings, including offices, classrooms, and outdoor settings.
- Work with limited direct supervision.
- Variable and flexible schedules.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing
- Tasks performed involve leaning, bending forward, kneeling, squatting, or crouching or stooping to assist students or staff and to prepare materials.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 25 lbs.
- Significant fine finger dexterity
- Seeing to read a variety of materials.
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations.
