San Antonio Christian School is seeking a dynamic, experienced and collaborative leader to serve as a faculty member. Located on a beautiful 71-acre campus, SACS is a non-denominational covenant Christian school with small class sizes and quality academics, coupled with a wide range of art and athletic opportunities which provide students with a Christ-centered education while fostering a life of faith and service.

The faculty members goal is to help students learn skills and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God. They are responsible for teaching and educating students according to the educational needs, abilities and attainment potential of individual students entrusted to their care by the Parents, Principals, Head of School, Assistant Head of School, and the Board of Directors. This position is instrumental in sustaining a school environment that is safe, encouraging, and fosters the development of the student.

This person shall be spiritually mature and shall instill a life of Faith, Character, and Academic Excellence in those around them, adhering to SACS Heart of a Lion Core Values.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES/RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Uphold ethical, honest, and respectful conduct in personal and professional matters, appreciating the diversity of conservative Christianity and following the Matthew 18 principle for conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrate the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality concerning the sharing of information.
  • Demonstrate emotional stability, objectivity, flexibility, and optimism in dealing with everyday stress and communicating the Gospel of Christ to young people.
  • Maintain a clean, modest, and tasteful personal appearance that models Christian values and follows school policy.
  • Supervise daily functioning of the school (morning, lunch, and afternoon duties), extracurricular activities, and school functions as assigned, ensuring accountability and security of funds collected in the classroom.
  • Participate in orientations, trainings, meetings, development programs, and activities that support the school's mission and vision, and model good attendance and punctuality.
  • Knowledgeable and flexibility to maintain students both in a traditional classroom and in an online format. Flexible to work with students both in a traditional classroom setting and online setting.
  • Able to train and assist students on multiple platforms as needed (Canvas, Microsoft, Teams, and FACTS).
  • Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.
  • Willing to participate in continuing education opportunities that will increase proficiency and job skills.

INSTRUCTIONAL COMPETENCIES/RESPONSIBIILTIES

  • Biblical Worldview Immersion - Teaches from a distinctively Christian perspective. Appropriately immerses/integrates a Biblical Worldview into the curriculum
  • Content Knowledge & Pedagogy - Maintains expertise in content and pedagogy. Demonstrates an understanding of curriculum and developmental needs of students by planning relevant learning experiences.
  • Lesson Plans/Curriculum Mapping - Actively engaged in curriculum mapping process. Lessons are well structured and reflect best practices by including measurable standards, student engagement strategies, and assessments. All elements of an effective lesson are evident. This includes: clear purpose & objective, review & anticipatory set, teaching & modeling, guided practice, checking for understanding, adjustments to instruction, and independent practice.
  • Organization - Tasks are organized, prioritized, and planned out. Materials, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and ready.
  • Maximizes Instructional Time - Begins promptly and avoids the waste of instructional time.
  • Questions & Discussions - Provides appropriate opportunities for questions and classroom discussions that provide for higher order thinking, utilization of problem-solving skills, and real-world application.
  • Assessments - Utilizes appropriate formative/summative assessments to inform instruction and effectively gauge student understanding.
  • Learning Environment/Teaching Toward Affection - Maintains and promotes a safe learning environment conducive to learning. Is supportive and caring.
  • Expectations & Consistency Classroom Mgmt. - Establishes clear expectations for students including classroom procedures and guidelines. Consistently and fairly applies classroom/school expectations.

QUALIFICATION

  • Acknowledge Christ as Lord and Savior. Seek to live life as His disciple. Share the Christian faith with others.
  • Minimum of bachelors degree in teaching subject/field from an accredited college or university. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school administrator.
  • Possess and maintain state and/or ACSI certification(s) or be willing to obtain the certification(s) as administration deems necessary.
  • Active member of a local evangelical church that aligns with the schools essential beliefs, Nicene Creed, and statement of faith.
  • Highly relational with established record of cultivating strong, appropriate relationships with students/adults.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to integrate technology into curriculum to design interactive and engaging lessons. PC proficient with knowledge of standard software.
  • Effective written and verbal communicator.
  • Must pass a criminal background check. Have reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Be outdoors for extended periods of time year-round.
  • Travel locally, as well as nationally as needed.
