Position Summary
To assist Facilities Services shop personnel in the attainment of District goals through effective and efficient
maintenance and repair of facilities.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Extensive use of shovel, rake and other hand tools used in paving work
2. Dig holes for fence posts and stretch line fences
3. Mix concrete and other masonry products
4. May be assigned to assist other shops and crafts with their work as needed. As such, may be given direction
and assignments from various shop supervisors and Journeymen depending on the work assigned.
5. Haul trailer and equipment to job sites.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities
expected for this position.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional
- General building construction work experience.
- Valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee

- Ability to use hand tools commonly required in repair and maintenance of facilities and grounds.

- Demonstrated ability to operate vehicles and related equipment: drive light van or pickup truck,
- Demonstrated ability to operate shop equipment and tools: Ladder, scaffold, small hand tools
- (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, sockets, pliers, crimpers, wire cutters, etc.), hand saws and power
tools (saw, drill, sander, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to operate Grounds equipment: garden and hand tools.
Working Conditions
Work Environment:
- Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and
- Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional exposure
Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing,
visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 or more pounds.
