Job Summary :
As part of the Education Department at the San Antonio Museum of Art, Museum Educators work closely with the Director of Education and Education Department Managers to develop and implement learning and engagement experiences for audiences of all ages.
This is a part-time position of 15 to 20 hours per week; hours per week may vary based on projects, programming, and events. Work location is primarily on the SAMA campus in an office environment, but also includes regular offsite travel to locations in the San Antonio area to deliver outreach programming. Schedule to include some evenings and weekends depending on program needs.
Responsibilities and Duties :
- Collaborates with the Education Department to plan learning and engagement experiences, develop studio art activities, create samples, research best practices, and write lesson plans for audiences of all ages.
- Facilitates public programs, workshops, and gallery experiences, including hands-on studio art activities.
- Assists in ordering art supplies, supply prep for programming, and maintaining the classrooms and storage area.
- Participates in weekly Education team planning meetings, typically held Wednesdays at 1 : 00 p.m.
- Supports ongoing evaluation initiatives through data collection, research, and surveys.
- Helps identify opportunities to support SAMA's strategic plan and Education Department goals.
