Position: Live Release Coordinator (Hourly, Full-Time).
This position starts with three weeks paid vacation and 9 paid stat holidays.
Location: SAPA! Building One at Animal Care Services
Summary of Position:
Position Responsibilities: The following statements describe the essential functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but should not be considered a complete list of work requirements. All SAPA employees must understand and agree that we are expected to work as a team, which may from time to time require all employees to complete duties not regularly required of their position.
As a Live Release Coordinator, you are expected to communicate professionally and respectfully with staff, adopters, rescues, fosters, networkers and others from transports. You are expected to work in a fast-paced environment to place urgent dogs from San Antonio Animal Care Services, to help increase the live release rate of SAPA and the city.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for cleaning animals as assigned by the SAPA! Rescue Center.
- Responsible for exercising, walking and rotating dogs in SAPA’s Rescue Center.
- Responsible for feeding and watering the animals in the Rescue Center as assigned.
- Must be knowledgeable or quickly become familiar with proper handling and restraint of animals.
- Must be able to appropriately assist in the restraint of any animal in SAPA! Building One’s care.
- Must be comfortable working with dogs, cats, puppies and kittens of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
- Willing to work one on one with animals to better acquaint them with human or animal interaction.
- Responsible for completing animal behavior assessments including but not limited to dog/dog introductions and dog/human interactions.
- Responsible for moving animals to and from the ACS clinic safely for surgery or vet appointments.
- Responsible for filling out the animal placement tracker spreadsheet in a timely manner throughout the workday.
- Responsible for prompt and proper receiving and kenneling of new animals brought into Building One.
- Responsible for transporting animals to adopters, fosters and rescue partners vehicles as needed.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and sanitized work areas throughout Building One and the surrounding areas including the dog play yards.
- Responsible for appropriately intaking and outcoming animals in SAPA’s animal database.
- Responsible for ensuring all necessary paperwork and information is entered into SAPA’s Animal database.
- Responsible for transporting animals as assigned.
- Responsible for completing on site adoption and pre-adoption meet and greets.
- Responsible for completing on-site adoptions and pre-adoptions.
- Must provide exceptional customer service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Support medical services performed at the center such as AM/PM medicating.
- Assist with animal workups for new animals entering the shelter program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills
- Must maintain a humane and caring attitude at all times towards the animals in care.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions- approximately 60% of this job involves outside work.
- This job is labor-intensive; physical exertion is required. Includes bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching above/below the waist, pushing/pulling movements, lifting, walking, standing for long periods of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.50 - $16.50 per year
