Position:
SAS has an opening in the Accounting Department for a Staff Accountant who will report to the CFO.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for month-end close activities for multiple entities including the preparation and review of financial data, research discrepancies and make correcting journal entries accordingly
- Analyze variances on the balance sheet and income statement to identify potential issues prior to close. Understand root cause and drive corrective action.
- Prepare monthly variance analysis with detailed explanations
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts with resolution to any noted items
- Understand the accounting processes of how subledger accounts feed into the general ledger and be able to fill in the gaps when needed
- Able to support different teams in the accounting department
- Create Value Added analysis reports
- Assist the CFO with special projects
- Assist in establishing and maintaining procedures and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data to enhance the company’s value
- Assist in streamlining and modifying current month-end close to shorten the closing period
- Performs highly complex tasks, providing analysis in various accounting functions
- Reviews financial data; maintains documented records supporting financial data used in analysis
- Assist with Quarter and Year End Inventory
- Assist in Annual Audit
- Works on special projects and requests as needed
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or an experience equivalent to degree
- Demonstrated technical accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent verbal skills with the ability to accurately explain your work
- Excellent written communication skills with ability to present data
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to engage with management to exchange information influence and persuade.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- The ability to work in a team environment and within cross-functional team(s) in a fast-paced, high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- The ability to maintain confidential information and ability to work with deadlines.
- Be a flexible, strategic team player with infallible integrity and ethical standards.
- Be someone who strives for high performance and uses technical skills effectively with a demonstrated emphasis to detail and accuracy.
- Possess the ability to multi-task and work in an organized, detailed manner under limited time frames & tight deadlines.
Preferred:
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Vlookups, etc.)
- Experience with ERP systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft D365/ERP as an ERP
- Billing or coding experience
Physical Requirements:
- Physical labor is often necessary for 8 hours or more per day with breaks approximately every two hours including sitting, standing and walking.
- Ability to input data (typing) into a computer for long periods.
