Position
SAS has an opening for a Purchasing Technician (Buyer).
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
- Develop a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased.
- Arranges and administers all aspects of procurement services for assigned categories to various departments.
- Accountable for end to end performance metrics for assigned commodities
- Coordinates and review with internal customer’s requisition, scopes of work, specifications and other considerations.
- Review, modify and negotiates supplier terms and pricing.
- Filing, data entry, and organizing as needed and other duties as assigned.
- Prepare and sorts documents, and identifies and interprets data to be entered.
- Contacts preparers of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data.
- Makes necessary corrections to information entered.
- Keeps records of work completed.
- Transmits entered information into database.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
- Able to adapt to new technologies and techniques to increase productivity and keep technical skills up to date.
- Skilled at identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Purchasing Knowledge, preferably in manufacturing environment.
- Ability to comprehend data as it relates to Production Scheduling (Manufacturing).
- Great customer service skills.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Good grammar, handwriting and spelling skills.
- Proactive at managing purchased line items to minimize shortages
- Ability sit or stand for 8 -10 hours per day with breaks approximately every two hours.
- The work is in a climate-controlled office.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or one-year or more related experience or training.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.
- Direct experience using ERP systems preferred.
- Computer proficient in Microsoft- Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Advanced Excel skills required.
- Familiar with internet browsers such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox.
