Purpose of Position

To manage all areas of responsibility in a safe, efficient, customer-centric, and timely manner. Maximize profitability for San Antonio Tennis Association, Inc. by continuing to grow revenue streams and keeping within (or below) budget the expenses for assigned areas of responsibility.

The Programs Director (PD), San Antonio Tennis Association, Inc. (SATA), is responsible for assisting the Executive Director (ED) in managing the daily operations of the SATA Programs Pillar to help secure grants and sponsorships to grow all tennis programs. The PD oversees operations for our local USTA Junior Team Tennis (JTT) and National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) Cohort program, SATA's Homeschool program, SAPR Fitness in the Park, Adopt a school, and Tennis on the Go. Also, assist and support Kinetic Kids, Special Olympics, Adaptive Tennis, and Racquets Up.

The success of SATA programs is measured by the number of participants and their satisfaction, financial performance, grants/sponsorships obtained, participation growth, and compliance with USTA policies and procedures.

Primary Functions, Responsibilities, Duties

  • Prepare and execute the programs portions of the Annual Strategic Plan. Which includes budget annual growth goals, calendar and description of all programs for the year, budget, reports, grants, sponsors, and help needed to achieve goals.
  • As needed, assist the Executive Director (ED) and Board of Directors. Attend office staff meetings and special meetings called by the ED.
  • With a heavy emphasis on planning and communications, work with SAPR Program Director to ensure all SATA programs are advertised and supported by Volunteers and certified Coaches. Relevant registration information is placed and updated on the SATA Website with the SAPR master calendar.
  • Maintain a Volunteer and Coaches database and ensure Volunteers and Coaches are informed of opportunities to support all SATA tennis programs. Identify and assist the ED "spotlight" a Volunteer of the Quarter on the SATA website.
  • Work with ED to ensure resources are allocated to support JTT operations. Help ED establish a local JTT Committee to assist with league responsibilities, including planning events for coaches and players. Schedule training and informational sessions with JTT coaches and facility managers to become certified and compliant with SAFE PLAY and familiar with NET GENERATION and network and expand JTT leagues in San Antonio and outside City limits (including Spring Branch and Boerne).
  • Coordinate and supervise the NJTL Program at Fairchild Tennis Center, McFarlin Tennis Center, and greater San Antonio. Ensure compliance with the USTA Capacity Building Grant to include all required reporting. Recruit and train NJTL Counselors, source additional facilities and equipment as required to support NJTL growth and keep accurate records of NJTL counselor payroll.
  • Track participant numbers, Volunteers, and Coaches paid hours per month for all USTA and SATA Programs. Archive this information to have it available to apply for grants, scholarships, and the Health Index as needed.
  • Oversee and support all other SATA and USTA Programs as required; ensure required equipment and court reservations are obtained as needed.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate any "Intern" assigned to work in this area.
  • Assist the SATA Webmaster in draft press releases to promote the "goodness" of all SATA Programs.
  • Promote all SATA programs with media and through email, social media, and web outlets.
  • Attend USTA and Texas Section workshops as required to keep updated on the latest Program information, rule sets, and training.
  • Assist the Executive Director in providing the following:
  • Provide a written report of ongoing monthly activities.
  • Attend various committee or partnership meetings.
  • Draft all grant and award submissions, with final review by ED throughout the year on behalf of the organization.

Time Commitment

Flex work conditions depending on Program schedules, with some workdays at multiple sites. Normal office hours are 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Monday-Friday at McFarlin Tennis Center when no programs are scheduled. Fairchild NJTL programming will include some afternoon and early evening hours. Weekends as needed for JTT league matches.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent; college preferred
  • Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Google Suite
  • Word Processing; creating content for documents, posters, and slide presentations
  • Excel Spreadsheets to store, track, and maintain information for data analysis
  • Knowledge of Tennis Link, TDM, and "Serve Tennis"
  • Knowledge of website building and updating social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, Twitter
  • Willingness to work toward achieving SATA, USTA Texas, and USTA National goals and within their guidelines
  • Ability to write lesson plans for tennis and educational instruction
  • Ability to run and participate in effective meetings relating to each program
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Enthusiastic personality with the desire to promote and grow youth tennis
  • Knowledge and interest in tennis and its rules and regulations
  • Ability to work well with the public and staff under various circumstances while representing both the SATA and the USTA in a positive manner
  • Flexibility and ability to work some weekends and to travel with ED occasionally for USTA conferences

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
