The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Guest Experience Department Coordinator to support our operations team in delivering exceptional guest service both internal and external. This role will focus on cross-departmental project management, administrative coordination and process improvement initiatives across key operational disciplines including security, consumer events, ride operations and guest entry along with other zoo business units. The coordinator will also assist the Senior Vice President of Operations in scheduling, meeting coordination and administrative tasks to enhance efficiency and streamline internal processes.

Administrative Duties:
- This position will assist the Senior Vice President of Operations with administrative needs to include: scheduling meetings, managing calendar, coordinating travel, preparing and assisting with communications and notations of meetings, ensuring follow-ups on action items and reviewing and answering email correspondence as needed.
- Act as a liaison between departments to facilitate efficient workflow and effective communication.
- Maintain organization of administrative records, reports and project documentation.
Project Management Duties:
- Oversee cross-departmental projects, ensuring seamless communication and execution across operational disciplines.
- Manage the scheduling and coordination of internal accreditation walk throughs, ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Assist in streamlining and maintaining standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and consistency.
- Provide project management support for operational initiatives related to security, consumer events, ride operations, guest entry and revenue operations.
- Support in data collection, reporting and presentation preparation for leadership review.
- Ensure alignment between operations teams by coordinating efforts and shared best practices.
Other Responsibilities:

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, the San Antonio Zoo recommends the following skills/qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is preferred or five (5) years in a related field.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects.
- Experience in project coordination, operations or administrative roles (preferably in guest experience, hospitality or theme park environment)
- Proficiency in project management tools, Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software.
- Willingness to learn new skills, master new techniques, while continuing to develop current skills and abilities.
- Proven team player with strong leadership skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic operational needs.
- Knowledge of and ability to follow proper safety procedures, as well as the ability to work safely in various environments.
- Strong commitment to conservation.
- Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Responsible for completing all online training courses by assigned deadlines.
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a clean driving record for vehicle operation.
- This position requires a valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License or a valid driver's license from another state with the ability to obtain a Class "C" Texas Driver's License within 45 days of becoming employed.
- We enjoy year-round operation for all staff, must be available day, nights, weekends, and occasional special after-hour assignments.
