Job Description
San Bernardino Valley College is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution with a majority of our students identifying themselves as either African American/Black or Latinx. We are seeking individuals to join our Geography department that are fully committed to transformational, culturally responsive education in a collegial and collaborative student-centered environment.
This posting is to fill one (1) full-time, tenure track position teaching in the geography department.
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Dean of Sciences, teach a full contract load of courses in the Department of Geography, will participate in curriculum development and serve on division, college, and district committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional programs; participate in appropriate professional development and other divisional activities. Faculty positions may require work to be performed during evenings and/or weekends.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
The duties below represent the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all the duties performed by the incumbent(s)of any particular position. 1.Provides instruction and mentorship to students pursuing degrees in Geography.
2.Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.
3.Participate and collaborate in geography, geology, GIS team, department, and division meetings
4.Assist in curriculum development, updates, and revisions.
5.Perform other duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreements, and general institutional needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in geography OR
• Bachelor's degree in geography AND Master's degree in geology, meteorology or oceanography
• OR the equivalent
• Experience that indicates a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff
Desired Qualifications:
• A minimum of two (2) full years experience teaching Geography and GIS at the community college level.
• A minimum of two (2) full years experience in the development of new Geography and GIS curriculum.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, college administration, intercollegiate athletic coaches and various on campus and off-campus constituencies.

Transcripts must be legible. Transcripts must be from a US accredited institution. Transcripts from outside the US must include an official evaluation for equivalency.
