Reciprocity may be available for those hired into a safety position (PC830.1 or PC830.2) with a California agency prior to 2013 without having 180 days break in service (Those hired after 2013 are eligible for current retirement benefits).

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Physical Agility: Must pass a physical agility test as part of the background.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained.
Mandated Course: Within one (1) year of the date of hire incumbents are required to successfully complete a 40-hour California P.O.S.T. mandated course on investigation and trial preparation (at department expense) or may be terminated.
Reassignment: Incumbents are subject to reassignments to meet the department's diverse investigative needs.
Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

EXPERIENCE: Candidates must meet one of the experience options listed below in addition to the required certificate: |
District Attorney Investigator: Five years of experience as a California Peace Officer (PC830.1 or PC830.2). |
District Attorney Senior Investigator: Option A: Five years of experience as a California Peace Officer (PC 830.1 or 830.2), which includes one year of experience as a California District Attorney Investigator. Option B: Five years of experience as a California Peace Officer (PC 830.1 or 830.2), which includes two years of criminal investigative experience (with a job title as detective, investigator, inspector), in a public governmental law enforcement agency AND which includes the performance of field investigations as the primary responsibility. |

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable on the principles and techniques of crime investigation, criminal law, including the rules of evidence, arrest, search and seizure, preparing search warrants, and the techniques of interviewing and interrogating witnesses and suspects. In addition, ideal candidates will have the ability to gather, preserve, analyze, and report evidence, communicate effectively in oral and written form, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the public and other law enforcement personnel.
