The Planning Division includes Current Planning and Advance Planning and is committed to the fulfillment of the Countywide Vision for our communities. The Planning Division recently adopted a major update to the General Plan, called the Countywide Plan, and Community Action Guides, and an entirely new Renewable Energy and Conservation Element, as well as numerous other strategic initiatives in support of the Countywide Vision. We are committed to continuing education and encourage our planners to pursue AICP status as they become eligible. Note:  Candidates must provide a list of transcripts unless the candidates possess a Bachelor's degree in a qualifying area. All documents should be uploaded upon completion of the application.  Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.  Degree Equivalency Evaluation: Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

A Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited school in land use, civil, environmental, or a closely related field of engineering  is highly desirable.

There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on the information provided in the Application and/or the Supplemental Questionnaire. You are encouraged to include detailed descriptions of your qualifying experience and skills, as only the most highly qualified applicants will be referred to the Department.
