The Job
The Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures is recruiting for a Senior Agricultural/Standards Officer, who under general direction, performs the most complex and in depth inspections and investigations involving the enforcement of the agricultural and weights and measures laws, regulations and policies. The Senior Agricultural/Standards Officer will also i nspect, test and seal commercial weighing and measuring instruments, issue permits for various agricultural purposes such as use of pesticides and marketing of produce, and make presentations to civic groups, government agencies, and industry meetings.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, medical exam, and review of employment history and education.
Physical: Incumbents must sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, twist and stoop. Requires grasping and fine manipulation in both hands. Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. Occasional lifting and carrying of objects up to 70 pounds and pushing/pulling of a loaded cart weighing up to 130 pounds.
Travel/License: Travel throughout the County is required. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation. A Class A or B license may also be required depending on the assigned duties.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider to candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
Minimum Requirements
Licenses: Applicants must possess all 8 core licenses as listed below. Designate all licenses which you possess on the Supplemental Questionnaire. Copies must be submitted with your application.
Note: Agricultural/Standards Officer Trainee experience is not considered qualifying.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills; has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to compose clear and concise reports; and possess proficient computer skills using standard office programs. The ideal candidate will also be detail oriented, with good problem solving and decision making skills; has a positive attitude with the ability to motivate staff to accomplish program goals and objectives. Lead or supervisory experience is desired.
