What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Nursing Assistant position at San Carlos Healthcare Corporation?
As directed and supervised by healthcare professional, performs a variety of patient care activities appropriate to the patient population to contribute to healthcare by preparing patients for visits and enhancing patient flow in accordance with established department policies, standards, procedures and compliance with local, Tribal, state and federal regulations and guidelines
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include, but not limited to the following)
- As directed and supervised by healthcare professional, collects and records a variety of routine patient data
- Performs a variety of patient care activities to provide for the optimal comfort and safety of the patient including, but not limited to: takes vitals, delivers/retrieves meal trays and basic patient care activities
- Identifies and reports unusual findings or observations, clinical symptoms, behaviors and treatment reactions to appropriate healthcare professional
- As supervised by healthcare professional, administers non-prescription medications to patients in accordance with physician orders
- Maintains current all records of medication and related health care provided in accordance with all applicable regulations, licensing requirements and standards
- Assists patient to and from restroom facilities, ambulates patient as part of care plan and transports patient to and from other clinical areas for procedures
- Performs linen changes, gathers soiled linen and places in appropriate storage bag
- Performs visual inventory of stock items; re-orders standard items to provide for availability of supplies for optimum efficient unit operations
- Performs a variety of activities to provide for the ongoing maintenance of the unit’s environment
- Participates in a variety of in-services and unit meetings to maintain understanding of care plan changes
- Refers problems beyond standards of practice to Registered Nurse as appropriate
- Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
- Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor
MARGINAL/ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs all other job related activities as requested
- Actively participates/assists during hospital code situations as directed
- May perform routine instrument cleaning
- May assist in reviewing and reinforcing education of basic health care procedures and activities
