What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Registrar position at San Carlos Healthcare Corporation?
The Patient Registrar performs a variety of customer service and routine administrative tasks to provide for efficient and courteous operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include, but not limited to the following)
- Greets all patients, families and visitors, verifies appointment information, provides directions and responds to inquiries as appropriate
- Interviews new patients to determine eligibility; adds to data base as appropriate to build patient health record
- Interviews patient and/or family member to determine primary visit purpose; routes Worker’s Compensation patients to appropriate service area
- Verifies insurance information, eligibility and benefit coverage with parent/guardian to ensure understanding of requirements and/or constraints effecting treatment
- Reviews patient registration information for updates and/or changes to primary and secondary insurance coverage to ensure accuracy of billing
- Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
- Daily, prepares charts for appointments, orders medical records, makes copies of material, creates labels/forms and includes proper patient data to provide for efficient patient flow
- Copies insurance card and attaches to registration documents to ensure accuracy for timely payment of claim
- Requests tribal enrollment verification to ensure coverage; refers to Eligibility Coordinator as needed
- Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor
- Performs other duties as assigned.
