What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN - Fitness Instructor I position at San Carlos Healthcare Corporation?
THIS POSITION IS Per Diem, PRN or On-Call or "As needed."
LOCATION: BYLAS FITNESS CENTER
The Fitness Instructor I assists in planning, organizing and facilitating in the operation of the fitness center and fitness activities
Essential Functions:
- Provides exercise instruction and motivational support to clients regarding proper and safe use of exercise equipment relative to individual exercise program needs
- Initiates and Supervises exercise programs for individuals with various diseases states including, but not limited to: diabetes, cardiovascular compromise and musculoskeletal disorders.
- Facilitate safe and effective exercise and instruction including Initiating and monitoring exercise programs for participants with less complex medical histories
- Maintains equipment preventive maintenance, cleaning logs and observation shift logs
- Educates on physical activity, importance of a healthy lifestyle change and exercise to general population including various age groups.
- Assists clients to register in computerized system; monitors attendance and participation to ensure accuracy of data
- Performs cleaning, stocking and general care of gym areas, exercise machines and equipment
- Monitors equipment set-up and instructions to clients to ensure ongoing safety, proper use of equipment.
- Adapts the appropriate tools in demonstrating the proper activities
- Performs assessment of client’s tolerance to an exercise program, able to identify client’s fitness level and motive for continued participation.
- Initiates and performs Group Exercise programs and monitors attendance.
- Performs anthropometrics measurements safely and monitors measurements utilizing screening forms
- Acknowledges the boundaries of expertise as a fitness and exercise professional and will make referrals to other professionals as necessary.
- Recognizes signs and symptoms associated with cardiac distress; initiates CPR procedures and/or other emergency first aid; seeks appropriate medical assistance to ensure safety of patient.
- Provides outreach services to community members by presenting program information in schools, district meetings, health fairs and senior centers
- Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
- Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skills and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor
- Construct monthly reports to show progress of the facilities
- Perform other duties as assigned
