We're currently undergoing exciting new expansions, including a $35 million campaign to construct a modern community health center and a partnership with the County of San Diego's Refugee Health Assessment Program to address the health concerns of newly arrived refugees. These upcoming developments have created new job opportunities at our organization, and we need your expertise to shape the future of community health.


Summary:

 

Ability to perform psychotherapy services via such modalities as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, Mindfulness, DBT, and other approaches to adults and older youth. Ability to diagnose and evaluate mental & emotional disorders, treat persons with co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance abuse), to assess and handle crises (both in office and of people walking into the clinic). Will work co-operatively with behavioral health teammates, with our Nurse Case Managers, and collaboratively with our Medical Department. Must have a patient centered approach to behavioral health care (the patient’s care comes first).

 

 

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to perform all job-related activities as outlined below.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Primary Functions:

  1. Interviews clients, reviews available medical and social case histories for initial assessment, and for ongoing treatment planning.
  2. Treats psychological disorders and syndromes to improve client functioning.

  1. Collaborates with Psychiatry team and other agency specialists in developing treatment plans for patients, coordinating ongoing treatment and referrals in a collaborative manner, and providing case management as needed.
  2. Must be knowledgeable and skilled in assessing and treating suicidal clients.
  3. Must have experience working with all standard diagnoses and issues, including with severely mentally ill persons, ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders
  4. Experience in running therapy treatment groups desired.
  5. Will participate in weekly staff supervision meetings, including presenting challenging cases.
  6. Must complete all documentation within 24 hours of seeing a client, plus stay current with all required treatment plans, closing summaries, etc.
  7. Must be able to work effectively with our Electronic Health Record (now RPMS, soon E-Clinical Works).
  8. May serve as consultant to social, educational, welfare, and other agencies on individual cases or in evaluation, planning, and development of mental health treatment for clients of SDAIHC.
  9. Must be able to respond to effectively de-escalate in-office client crises, respond to client crisis phone calls that day, and be able to respond to walk-in client crises when asked to by leadership staff.
  10. May participate in Grants that help to fund this position and the BH program.
  11. Is not hesitant to seek advice and consultation with peers and the Behavioral Health Director.
  12. Other duties as assigned by Behavioral Health Director

 

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  1. Doctoral Degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology.
  2. CA License to practice Psychology in good standing.

 

Preferred:

  1. Experience serving a native American community and multicultural population.
  2. FQHC background.
  1. Familiarity with Community Health Clinics and/or Indian Health Clinics.
  1. ECW EHR.
  2. Bilingual English/Spanish.


Special Conditions of Employment:

 

  1. Covid-19 fully vaccinated.
  2. Current BLS and CPR certification.

  3. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for maintaining physical spaces, equipment, and supplies. 
  4. Uses all appropriate equipment and/or tools to ensure workplace safety.
  5. Immediately reports unsafe working conditions.

  1. Maintains privacy and security of all patients, employee, and volunteer information and access to such information. Such information is accessed on a need-to-know basis for business purposes only.

Flexibility: Available for all shifts and, when required, able to work evenings and weekends
