SUMMARY
Performs professional accounting duties in the areas of General Ledger including preparation of Financial Statements, reconciliations and tax reports. May handle special assignments or projects in the general accounting area. Works under light supervision while exercising independent judgement and creativity in improving processes and performing assigned tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :
- Balances cash receipts journals to deposits.
- Balances sales journals to batch listings.
- Balances Accounts Receivable agings to sales and receipts.
- Posts journal entries to record sales.
- Updates Dues amortization schedule and posts journal entries to record income.
- Prepares journal entries to record liabilities and assets from service center billing.
- Reconciles bank statements.
- Records interest earned on bank accounts.
- Balances IC Verify merchant deposits to bank statement.
- Updates and prepares journal entries for Leasehold amortization, Furniture and fixtures, Vehicles, and Equipment depreciation schedules.
- Balances inventory to Rappatoni reports.
- Records accrued tax liabilities monthly.
- Prepares reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts.
- Computes and posts journal entry for G & A allocations.
- Maintains files for contracts, insurance, financials, budgets, taxes, assets, audits, and reconciliations.
- Processes payroll with third party supplier
- Performs fixed asset inventory.
- Prepares quarterly sales tax reports.
- Prepares annual property tax report.
- Reconciles C.A.R. and NAR liabilities.
- Provides information for internal and external audits.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Under supervision, performs duties requiring latitude / judgment, independent analysis and detailed knowledge of sales and membership departmental procedures. Will independently answer correspondence, and make decisions on behalf of the Association.

The Senior Accountant position supports the association and requires being available consistently from 8AM to 5PM. Confidentiality is a must as the position will be exposed to financial information which is not to be shared without approval.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Four-year college or university degree with major course work in Accounting or Business Administration.
Considerable knowledge of advanced general accounting methods.
Ability to independently research and resolve complicated technical problems in accounting.
Ability to plan and organize priorities to meet deadlines.
Knowledge and experience with SAGE software is desirable.
C.P.A. credentials are preferred.
Ability to express ideas clearly verbally and in writing.
Ability to plan and organize individual, staff, departmental and company priorities and goals.
Association or not for profit experience preferred.
Ability to multi-task
Ability to provide excellent customer service and follow through
Ability to perform detail-oriented work with tight deadlines and competing priorities
Ability to work in a team environment

REASONING ABILITY
