Applications are currently being accepted for the position of Theater Technician at San Diego Mesa College. Mesa College is located in the City of San Diego, and is one of the San Diego Community College District's three credit colleges. The Theater Technician position is critical to the Drama Department, and is responsible for providing technical support for all theater productions as well as campus and civic events. The Theater Technician is responsible for lighting, sound, and multimedia for the Drama Department, as well as other campus/District departments and outside organizations that rent the Apolliad Theater. Hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; however, the selected candidate will need to adjust work days/hours based on the needs of the campus programs, the District, and any outside rentals. Evening and weekend activity are required to support productions in the theater.

- Principles and theory of stage production.
- Experience working in live theater production, adhering to deadlines, collaborating with directors, designers and producers.
- Fire, safety, and health regulations.
- Lighting, sound and projection design, digital video production and execution.
- Operation and use of computers and basic software applications necessary for execution of lighting, sound, and projection design.
- Practical knowledge and experience in stage carpentry, scenic painting, rigging, lighting, electrical, sound board, multimedia, audio, and projection operations.
- The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Record-keeping experience.
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, District personnel and the general public.
- Understanding and following of oral and written instructions.
- Production and performance management, including timely responses to administrative and production deadlines.
- Experience with office operations, budget allotment, and basic accounting.
