Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for an Audiologist for the North County Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) department of the Student Services and Programs division. Under the general direction of the SELPA Director or Designee, serves as an educational audiologist to school districts by: completing hearing evaluations and related reports; performing Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) assessments and related accommodations for instruction; assisting students with hearing impairments with amplification and auditory skills; consulting with staff regarding auditory skills, issues, and instructional accommodations and methods. The Audiologist will serve infant children through young adults; from birth to age 22.

ABOUT NCCSE
The North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) is a multidistrict Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) composed of fourteen school districts that have joined in a cooperative effort to provide a coordinated delivery of programs, services, and assurances to over 16,000 students with special education needs residing within its local planning area.

As a means of improving learning outcomes for students, NCCSE supports its member districts and the communities they serve by providing:

* Professional development and parent education
* Program Specialist services for our small districts
* Alternative Dispute Resolution
* Technical assistance
* Awareness and dissemination of current best practices
* Creating forums for problem-solving and unification of common needs across its member districts

Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree in Audiology or closely related subject and experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team doing assessments, interpreting audiological evaluations, writing intervention plans, and providing family/staff consultation. Certificates, Licenses, Credentials:

  • Valid California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential with an authorization in Audiology; or equivalent document.*
  • Valid California Driver’s License

*Candidates who do not currently hold a valid California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential with an authorization in Audiology (or an equivalent credential) may still be eligible to apply if they possess the required documentation for credential application. A stipend of $6,000, paid out after three (3) years of consecutive full-time service, shall be paid to unit members hired on or after July 1, 2018 who have not received payment under this clause prior to July 1, 2023, hold state certification and are employed as Audiologists, Speech Hearing and Language Specialists, or in positions requiring authorizations for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH), Visually Impaired (VI) or Orientation and Mobility (O&M). The stipend will be paid out at the completion of the third instructional year.

This position is also eligible for Article XV: Salary, Section 2.C.5.B of the negotiated agreement between SDCOE and SDCAE.

*Note: Valid California credentials are a requirement at the time of hire. If you do not possess the required California credentials, you may go to the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing website https://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/out-of-state-app for details on meeting California’s requirements.

Employment with SDCOE is contingent upon the successful completion of a post-offer background check and physical exam, which includes a drug screening.
