The San Diego County Office of Education's (SDCOE) Outdoor Education Program is recruiting for Substitute/Limited Term - Outdoor Education Specialist to work as needed.
This position will assist in implementing learning and recreational activities in a fifth/sixth-grade outdoor education school, including organizing and leading activities such as nature hikes, conservation and craft projects, and learning activities with large and small student groups on a variety of outdoor education subjects, such as biology, botany, ecology, astronomy, and conservation.
This position requires knowledge of natural sciences and environmental education concepts, as well as the ability to work effectively with students and adults in small and large group settings. A typical qualifying experience would be the completion of college-level course work in the natural sciences, recreation, education, or other related topics, and experience working in a residential outdoor education or recreation program with school-age children. Possession of an American Red Cross CPR and First Aid/AED certificate is required.
Outdoor schools are located in the remote mountain areas of San Diego County. Must be available to work varying assignments in the 24-hour residential school schedule, including overnight assignments.
