What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Development Mentor position at San Diego County Office of Education?
Members will serve individually or in pairs at one of 31 partner schools in Oceanside, Vista, Valley Center, Escondido, Carlsbad, & San Diego. Members receive extensive orientation, ongoing support/coaching, weekly/monthly meetings, attend/serve at events with fellow AmeriCorps members, professional training on topics relevant to service, career development opportunities, and networking opportunities within the school site, PASS AmeriCorps program, San Diego County Office of Education, and with community partners; Looking for a mature, motivated, self-starters wanting to make a positive difference in the community and the lives of the students we serve.
The program start date is September 1, 2023 - end date is June 30, 2024, for a 10-month/1700-hour contract. Positions are available for an October start date as well for a 9-month/1700-hour contract.
Position details:
- Full-time only.
- 10-month/1700-hour service term.
- First Year Member- $2,000/month, Second Year Member- $2,250/month.
- Serving Monday - Friday with occasional weekends & evenings.

- Earn a $6,895 Segal Educational Award and a $3,105 CFA (California for All Educational Award) (for a total of $10,000, taxable).

Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher.
- Vehicle recommended and valid driver's license.
- Preferred 1-2 years experience working with youth.
- Spanish-speaking is a plus.
- Complete SDCOE (San Diego County Office of Education) and AmeriCorps applications, fingerprinting/background check.
