COMMUNITY IMPACT COORDINATOR

Position
The Community Impact Coordinator plays a crucial role in the development, execution, and evaluation of San Diego FC's comprehensive community impact. This position involves collaborating with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external, to build and maintain strong community relationships across San Diego County. The Coordinator will support program implementation, event logistics, matchday activations, administrative tasks, sponsorship fulfilment, data tracking, and strategic planning. This role requires a high level of professionalism and experience in community relations, social responsibility, and professional sports.
Reporting to the VP of Community Impact, this position is responsible for supporting all aspects of the team’s work in the community, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment at all club events, programs, and initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the coordination and execution of SDFC’s community impact programs, initiatives, and events, supporting the development of relationships with community partners, local non-profits, academic institutions, and youth soccer organizations
- Track and analyze the impact of community programs, offering actionable insights for growth and helping ensure the department maintains accurate records of its impact.
- Coordinate event and program logistics including booking space, venue setup, volunteer recruitment and management
- Track partnership deliverables and support the fulfillment of community-related sponsorship assets
- Assist with the execution of player appearances, donation requests, ticket distribution, and related activations
- Create program materials, such as flyers, brochures, and presentations
- Maintain accurate records of the department’s work and communications with community partners, volunteers, and program participants
- Develop surveys and gather insights from stakeholder groups (coaches, parents, youth, community-based organizations, etc.) to inform the long-term community impact strategic plan
- Represent SDFC at meetings and events, building relationships with community leaders and organizations.
- Collaborate with the Brand and Marketing teams, assisting with the creation and distribution of content, including newsletters, social media, and website updates
- Support the relationship with San Diego Foundation including SDFC’s work with non-profit organizations
- Provide administrative support to the Community Impact team as needed
Community Insights and Expertise
- Cultivate a deep understanding of the distinct characteristics, preferences, and priorities of each of the 18 San Diego communities, ensuring efforts and initiatives are tailored to their unique needs.
- Stay informed about developments within the MLS soccer landscape and other professional sports teams, specifically involving best practices for community impact.
- Leverage insights into soccer fandom to assist in the creation of authentic and engaging experiences that resonate with both passionate soccer supporters and casual fans.
- Design and lead initiatives that contribute positively to San Diego's neighborhoods.
- Support partnerships and collaborations with local organizations that align with the team's values and mission.
Requirements
Candidates can meet the requirements for this role with a combination of these skills and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Sports Management, Communications, Public Relations)
- 3 years of experience in community relations, non-profit management, OR a related field within the youth development or professional sports industry, with demonstrated experience in community impact and program development
- Proven ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and represent the organization in a positive and impactful manner
- Strong understanding of the professional soccer landscape and the unique opportunities for community engagement within this context
- Passion for community engagement and social impact, particularly within the youth soccer landscape
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of the Major League Soccer landscape and soccer fandom.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with diverse individuals and organizations.
- Knowledge of the San Diego community and its diverse populations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
- Certified Grassroots Coach by United States Soccer Federation is a plus
