As a Cook, you will be an integral part of our Kitchen Team, playing a pivotal role in caring for our students and guests.
Your primary responsibilities will include working with a team of staff and volunteers and support your team members by working together to plan, prepare and cook meals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
Cooks food in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served.
Coordinates activities of one or more Work Therapy clients who assist in preparing, serving and distributing meals in-house or for delivery.
Prepares ingredients; performs basic cooking tasks such as cutting meats and vegetables, baking pastries, etc.
Sorts food donations and utilizes donated versus purchased items, taking advantage of foods in season and local availability.
Informs Food Service Manager of needed supplies and keeps records.
Preserves a supportive work environment by treating people with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity at all times, and works to resolve grievances;
maintains professionalism and promotes a positive Mission image.
Supports and participates in the Work Therapy program; assists Program staff in creating a productive, therapeutic, educational and professional environment that enables clients to learn and / or develop job skills and appropriate workplace behaviors.
Contributes to team effort by reading, understanding and supporting the Strategic Plan.
Creates and attains individual impact goals (and departmental goals) in support of the Strategic Plan.
Performs job safely, without endangering the health or safety of him / herself or others; respects and conforms to Mission's Anti-Fraternization and Anti-Harassment policies as well as all other guidelines regarding behavior and conduct.
Follows both standard operational and program procedures and reports needed changes.
Attends all mandatory meetings and trainings (unless previously excused by manager).
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive Mission information, such as client, employee and / or donor data.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Minimum high school diploma.
Experience : Minimum three years work experience in quantity-style cooking with supervisory duties. Previous experience with the homeless, substance abusers, mentally ill and / or dually diagnosed preferred.
Nonprofit experience preferred.

regular, timely attendance.
Special License / Certification : Current Food Handler's card, C.A. Driver's license
Travel / Transportation : The incumbent must travel on a regular (or periodic) basis, as the job requires. The incumbent must have reliable transportation (public transportation may be acceptable depending on the purpose of travel).
If the incumbent receives authorization to use a Mission vehicle to perform duties, he or she must present a current California driver's license and good driving record in order to be placed on the Mission's insurance policy.
