Job Summary
Under administrative direction, a Certificated Substitute in the San Dieguito Union High School District works on a flexible, on-call basis, providing temporary instructional support in middle and high school classrooms. This role involves stepping in for absent regular teachers, implementing lesson plans, and maintaining classroom order. The substitute should be adaptable, able to teach various subjects, and communicate effectively with students and staff.
Requirements / Qualifications
Possession of a valid California K-12 Teaching Credential with or without an English Learners Authorization
OR
A valid California issued 30-Day Substitute Permit
Required Documents
Applications submitted without all of the following required documents will not be accepted:
- Copy of transcripts verifying a bachelor's degree or higher (Unofficial copies are accepted)
- Credential copy (Copies of credentials must be current printouts of the credential document details page from the CTC website that shows document name, subjects, authorizations, and expiration date. Certificates will not be accepted.)

- Complete List of all Local Education Agencies (LEAs) (The list MUST include all of the following information for each LEA: Agency Name, Contact Name, Contact's Email Address.)
Substitute Teacher Pay Rates
$90.00 - Half Day: Less than 3 hours in system / onsite.
$200.00 - Long-term pay rate: Effective on 6th consecutive day in the same assignment.
- Note Re: Long-term pay rate: If a break in service after long-term pay rate is effective, the rate will revert back to full day rate for 5 consecutive days.
