Job Description: The Material Handler is responsible for retrieving product, assessing load safety, and transporting it using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment as needed. This role requires accurate posting of inventory movement based on document requests, reporting safety issues or work concerns to supervisors or management immediately, and maintaining a clean, neat, and audit-ready warehouse environment at all times. Key responsibilities include working in a safe manner following all safety rules and procedures, ensuring compliance with company SOP, GMP, and SQF policies, and loading/unloading incoming and outgoing freight. The successful candidate will also guarantee product is properly marked/labeled and accurately identified in warehouse locations at all times, ensure material handling equipment is clean, neat, and in good working order, report damages immediately, participate in year-end physical counts and daily cycle counts following SOP guidelines, support 7S standards throughout the warehouse, perform any other duties assigned, and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications: To be successful in this role, candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse environment preferred, basic math concepts, bilingual Spanish a plus, basic computer skills and understanding of Excel spreadsheets, knowledge of food safety regulations helpful, good interpretive and/or reactive skills, manufacturing environment experience a plus, understanding of Lean Manufacturing Methodology and Warehouse Management Software, team experience preferred, and forklift experience (sit down, stand up, and pallet riders).
