Position Summary :
The Director of Data Strategy and Research will be vital in propelling the Institute's mission forward. This role involves leading data management, statistical analysis, and research initiatives to foster evidence-based decision-making. Candidates should possess a robust background in data management and analytics, particularly within education and underserved contexts. A passion for educational equity and the ability to convey complex data in accessible terms to diverse audiences are essential.
This is an Independent Contractor position through SFBU's Institute for Equity in Education. Please note that, as an independent contractor, this role does not include benefits like health insurance, paid time off, or retirement plans. The initial contract is projected to last 12 months, with potential for extension based on performance.
- Data Management & Analysis : Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of large, complex datasets associated with education outcomes focusing on the impact of K-12 education on low-income students.
- Research Communication : Develop accessible data summaries, visual aids, and reports to effectively communicate findings to both academic and non-academic audiences.
- Stakeholder Collaboration : Collaborate closely with Institute staff, educational partners, and external researchers to enhance the Institute’s research objectives.
- Grant Writing & Fundraising : Craft compelling grant proposals and funding applications to secure financial backing for the Institute's research and strategic initiatives.
- Innovation & Trends : Remain updated on new trends, methodologies, and technologies in data science and education research, including innovative uses of Artificial Intelligence in educational analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Education, Data Science, Social Sciences, or a related field. Relevant graduate-level coursework or research focusing on low-income or underserved communities is a plus.
Experience : A minimum of 3 years in data analysis, research, or strategic planning, ideally within an educational or social science context.

Salary Range
