SFDPH strives to achieve its mission through the work of two main Divisions - the San Francisco Health Network and Population Health.Population Health Division’s Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Prevention Program is accepting applications for a position in class 2322 Nurse Manager. This position supervises nurses and health workers, and helps oversee clinical operations at San Francisco City Clinic, the municipal STI clinic.The Nurse Manager, Ambulatory (2322) performs duties such as the following : Manages and supervises the delivery of nursing care provided by the clinics and assists nursing staff in the provision of that careReceives training in operation of high complexity lab so as to be able to provide backup when microbiologist is outIn partnership with other clinic managers, oversees clinic operationsParticipates and collaborates with members of the administrative team to develop systems that facilitate safe, efficient, comprehensive and client-centered care, including LEAN quality improvement activitiesCoordinates hiring, provides supervision, coordinates assignments / scheduling, and completes performance appraisals for a multi-level and multi-cultural staff of registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, health workers and public health aidesIdentifies staff training needs and participates in planning, developing, evaluating and providing in-service trainingsDevelops, maintains, and updates nursing policies, procedures, and standards in compliance with Department and State guidelinesAssists with CQI activities related to EPICOversees clinic compliance committee and ensures clinic is in compliance with federal, state and local policies for various programsMaintains system for the ordering and inventory of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and vaccinesCoordinates with Occupational Safety and Health around workplace safety and ergonomic evaluationsDevelops and maintains emergency response plan and coordinates dissemination of plan to program staffEvaluates critical incidents / unusual occurrences / patient safety issues and oversees an overall quality assurance programPromotes professionalism and professional development and serves as resource and nursing advocateProvides direct care to patients at a minimum of 10%Represents Clinic at internal and external meetings and eventsMinimum QualificationsPossession of a valid California Registered Nurse LicensePossession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and / or university in Nursing, Nursing Administration or a closely related fieldTwo (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a general acute care hospital, ambulatory clinic, or community / public health settingSpecial Condition : 12 months of Communicable Diseases ExperienceSubstitution : Two (2) years of additional experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager / Charge Nurse in a general acute care hospital may be substituted for the educational requirement.Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS : Two (2) years experience, within the last five years, as a Registered Nurse in an ambulatory clinic in Public HealthOne (1) year experience in a supervisory capacityOne (1) year experience working with patients with HIV and STDsExperience with LEAN QIExperience with EPICDemonstrates leadership abilityExcellent verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge and sensitivity to the health, ethnic and socio-economic factors affecting under-served at risk populationSelection Procedures : After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process.Eligible List Duration : The list resulting from this examination process will be 6 months.Important Note : Please make sure it is absolutely clear in your application exactly how you meet the minimum qualifications.The City and County of San Francisco encourages women, minorities and persons with disabilities to apply.#J-18808-Ljbffr
