Role Description
We are looking for a Director of Internal and Institutional Communications to develop and implement a strategy that aligns with our organizational goals and initiatives, including Vision 2030, while enhancing internal and executive communication. This role involves collaborating with senior leadership on messaging for key stakeholders, managing employee engagement initiatives, and overseeing online reputation monitoring. This position will oversee media relations, create content for internal communications, and develop crisis communication plans. The ideal candidate will have strong decision-making skills and experience engaging with executives and boards to drive impactful results. This position reports to the VP of Marketing and Communications.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive internal and executive communications strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives, including Vision 2030 and expansion opportunities.
- Executive, Board Communication: Collaborate with senior leadership to craft messages and presentations that effectively communicate corporate initiatives and updates to employees, donors, volunteers, and other key stakeholders.
- Employee Communication: Design and implement communications that enhance employee engagement, including post-survey programs, All Hands, liaise with internal groups, maintain and monitor all feedback mechanisms.
- Reputation Management: Develop and oversight of online reputation monitoring program; analyze sentiment to identify positive/negative feedback. Provide risk assessment; partner with leadership on responses and develop program(s) to address as needed.
- Media Management: Manage the Sr. Manager, Communications and collaborate to nurture strong media relations to highlight strategic communication initiatives.
- Crisis Communications: Develop and manage communication plans for crisis situations, ensuring timely and transparent communication with employees.
- Content/Material Creation: Produce and oversee the creation of internal communication materials, including newsletters, emails, intranet content, and announcements. Write and edit messaging frameworks, leadership talking points, organizational announcements, briefing materials, internal and external social content, and other external and internal communications materials.

Requirements
Requirements:
- 8 years of experience in senior marketing, PR and media relations
- Passion for brand building, marketing, and communications, with proven ability to get the best results and creativity out of teams.
- Deep understanding of the unique marketing and communication needs of non-profit organizations.
- Ability to lead strategy and campaigns for both brand building and performance marketing, with a history of continually innovating and testing new ideas.
- Exceptional written and oral communicator with a strong sense of vision, sophistication and a collaborative, creative, and strategic approach to communication.
- Demonstrated ability to build a strong, diverse team through attracting and retaining talent.
Salary & Benefits
The starting salary for this position depends on the depth and breadth of experience. The expected range is $135,000 - $152,000 per year.
