Assoc Mental Hlth Therap (AMFT, APCC, ACSW)

San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital’s Behavioral Health Center located in PALM SPRINGS, is currently seeking a dedicated Associate Mental Health Therapist for our Outpatient Program.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Mental Health Therapist performs a wide range of therapeutic care activities that are integral to the overall treatment of mental health patients as directed by the Director and the Medical Director of the Behavioral Health Department for San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital. The Associate Mental Health Therapist is a vital member of the multidisciplinary mental health treatment team and is competent in the delivery of clinical services including group psychotherapy and individual/family psychotherapy. The Associate Mental Health Therapist participates in treatment team meetings and weekly treatment planning meetings, in addition to weekly clinical supervision meetings. In addition, the Associate Mental Health Therapist completes master treatment plans, treatment plan updates, bio-psychosocial assessments, and intake assessments, as needed. It is the responsibility of the Associate Mental Health Therapist to complete all required documentation on a timely basis. The Associate Mental Health Therapist must demonstrate competence in the assessment and evaluation of patients seeking mental health treatment, including adult and geriatric chronic mentally ill individuals. The Associate Mental Health Therapist demonstrates knowledge and experience in methods of psychotherapeutic treatment consistent with the standard of care in mental health treatment and is knowledgeable of age-appropriate psycho-therapeutic and behavioral norms.

The Associate Mental Health Therapist demonstrates competent communication skills and understands their role as not only an employee of the department but as a representative of the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital as a whole. The Associate Mental Health Therapist has an awareness of the importance of a commitment to the mission and values of San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital with particular attention to the value of customer service excellence.

*In the case of an Associate Mental Health Therapist, the Job Summary, Principal Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities are performed under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Supervisor per the approved Supervision Agreement with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• Must possess a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or Social Work from an accredited institution.

Licensure:

• Current California Registration: AMFT, ACSW, or APCC as approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences
• Current BLS certification.

Experience:

• Group and individual psychotherapy experience preferred.
• Experience with a chronic mentally ill population preferred.
