Introduction
This recruitment is being conducted to fill temporary Law Clerk opportunities within the San Joaquin County Public Defender's Office.
Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background: Potential new hires into this classification are required to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation as a condition of employment.
KNOWLEDGE
Some knowledge of the principles of law and their application. Some knowledge of trial procedures and the rules of evidence. Some knowledge of legal research methods and the preparation of briefs and opinions. Some knowledge of county government functions and legal responsibilities.
ABILITY
Analyze, apply legal principles, facts, evidence, and precedents to legal problems. Ability to present statements of law, fact and argument clearly and logically in written and oral form. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious and cooperative relationships with fellow staff members, departmental representatives, and the general public. Ability to perform research and prepare legal opinions.
