Job Summary:
Youth for Christ seeks a compassionate and skilled Intervention Specialist to provide group counseling and individual mentoring to adolescents struggling with substance use and emotional well-being. Working within a Christian framework, this individual will integrate faith-based principles with evidence-based practices to help young people develop healthy coping mechanisms, make positive life choices, and experience the love and hope found in Christ. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player. Due to the nature of our work, strong teamwork skills are crucial for achieving our goals. However, a high degree of autonomy is required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Function as a community resource to schools, and other community agencies.
- Provide substance abuse education and/or emotional management tools and techniques to 11-19-year-olds in a group setting at either assigned school or community site.
- Complete and update student attendance records and charts.
- Provide appropriate certificates and letters for those who attend.
- Effectively communicate with parents, guardians, school administration and/or community partners.
- Manage incoming referrals from school districts and partnering agencies.
- Represent YFC/PBAR professionally at all times.
- Build relationships with schools, agencies, and institutions to promote Point Break Adolescent Resources.
YFC Team Ministry
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Complete ministry reports for your supervisor weekly.
- Complete time sheets and submit them to your supervisor on time.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith and a passion for youth ministry.
- Mental Health Specialist or Substance Abuse certification or similar credential preferred.
- Experience working with youth facing challenging circumstances.
- Knowledge of evidence-based intervention strategies and best practices.
- Strong clinical skills, including assessment, treatment planning, and counseling.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Current knowledge of confidentiality and ethical standards practice.
Hours:
20-30 hours per week, some travel required.
Compensation:
$20-24/hour depending on experience.
