For 2024-25 School Year (April 1st - June 13th, 2025): 5 days/week, Monday - Thursday: 3.75 hrs/day, 11:20am - 3:15pm, Friday: 7.5 hrs/day, 7:45am -3:15pm.
For 2025-26 School Year (August 28th, 2025 - June 11th, 2026) : 5 days/week, 7.5 hrs/day, M-F 7:45am-3:15pm.

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for organizing and implementing a learning environment with varied educational experiences that are developmentally appropriate for the preschool curriculum and aligned with ECEAP (Early Childhood Education Assistance Program) standards. The position will involve screening, recording, and assessing all students' learning and growth, as well as working with county agencies, families, and the Special Services Director to ensure that students are receiving the resources needed to thrive in the program. This position is expected to continue from year to year provided that the district receives the necessary funding.
Essential Job Functions:
- Organizes and plans a classroom program that instructs individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, cognitive, social and motor skills to strengthen positive self-concept in each individual student.
- Collaborates with the Special Services Director and San Juan County ECEAP team in developing, implementing and evaluating school/home partnership activities such as culturally responsive classroom curriculum plan, parent education activities and family night activities.
- Observes, records, and evaluates each child’s growth and development using appropriate assessment tools.
- Works with parents in identifying children’s strengths and needs; develops each student’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and incorporates individual student needs into the classroom curriculum plan.
- Advocates for family involvement in program.
- Works collaboratively with school and district staff to promote PreK-3rd grade alignment.
- Directs work of the developmental preschool paraeducators and classroom volunteers.
- Demonstrates professional behavior and conduct.
- Maintains confidentiality of program, staff and student information.
- Maintains excellent communication with parents, Special Services Director, and County ECEAP advisors.
- Facilitates mealtime and snack routines using family style meal service as well as coordinates student transition to the Elementary School Cafeteria for lunch.
- Performs related duties as assigned consistent with the intent and scope of the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Three years of successful work experience in a preschool, child care, or kindergarten setting
- A Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA)
- An AA degree or higher in Early Childhood Education from an accredited public or private institution of higher education
- A valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education.
- Must have experience working or interacting successfully with culturally diverse families or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of assigned subject areas.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and learning and appropriate educational practices for 3-5 year olds.

- Valid Washington State driver’s license.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certificate OR ability and willingness to maintain a current certificate.
- Current Food Handlers Permit OR ability and willingness to maintain a current certificate.
- I-9 Employment Eligibility.
- Successful WA State Patrol and FBI fingerprinting clearance.
- Completion of all district required trainings within thirty (30) calendar days form hire date.
Work Environment:
The employee is required to deal with potential stressful and challenging situations with students, parents and members of the community. The position may involve exposure to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.
