As one of the largest California school districts, we serve more than 45,000 preschool, TK-12 and adult learners in the communities of Citrus Heights, Orangevale, Fair Oaks, Gold River, Carmichael and Arden-Arcade in eastern Sacramento County. All new candidates interested in guest/substitute teaching in the San Juan Unified School District must meet the following requirements:
• Hold a teaching credential based on a degree and student teaching OR • Be eligible to apply for an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit. Effective January 1, 2023 through July 31, 2024 the commission is waiving the basic skills requirement To be eligible to apply for an Emergency 30-day permit you must: o Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher, and meet the basic skills requirement. The most common options for meeting the basic skills requirements are: 1. Pass the CBEST 2. Qualify via Coursework (see below) 3. See CTC link for other alternatives for details regarding Basic Skills: Please visit the CTC website There are many options outside of the CBEST exam, so please review this page carefully. New guest teachers will be required to attend an orientation. • Pass a Criminal Background Check - Fingerprint fees are temporarily waived. • Obtain a clear TB test
