Position Overview :

The KinderClub Coordinator (KCC) oversees the daily operations of the Transitional Kindergarten / Kindergarten (TK / K) program (ages 4-6), focusing on delivering comprehensive, outcome-driven services. The KCC is a compassionate, kind, and caring leader who motivates and inspires Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) to perform at their best when working with children.

The KCC should have a deep respect and love for children, enabling them to work collaboratively with teachers and colleagues to ensure the highest quality of learning for children. This role requires creating a harmonious and satisfying working environment for the staff.

The ideal candidate will balance boldness and humility in supporting and leading the staff. Key responsibilities include the daily running and administration of TK / K, adhering to company policies and procedures, and ensuring a high standard of care and education. Additionally, the KCC will partner with the Program Manager and Site Safety & Operations Coordinator (SSOC) to implement and maintain safety protocols, ensuring a secure environment for children and staff.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions :

Leadership and Staff Management :

  • Manage the delivery of high-quality and inspirational early years care and education.
  • Ensure compliance with BGCSL policy in all aspects of TK / K programming.
  • Lead the TK / K team with compassion and humility, ensuring YDPs are inspired and committed.
  • Ensure events, processes, and procedures are completed within deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain an environment of reflective practice across TK / K programming.
  • Assign and deploy YDPs to support program delivery at school sites and the Clubhouse as needed.
  • Provide support to YDPs reflecting BGCSL's mission, vision, and values.
  • Partner with the Learning & Development Team to create a comprehensive onboarding training program for YDPs.
  • Work with the Program Manager and Learning & Development Director to support training experiences, including assessments and feedback mechanisms for YDPs.

Program Implementation and Assessment :

  • Ensure each child is working towards TK / K outcomes of early childhood development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the TK / K curriculum through delivery.
  • Implement systems of observation and record-keeping to assess children’s attainment and progress.
  • Monitor and track the learning and development of all children in the setting, maintaining necessary records.
  • Policy Implementation and Professional Development :

  • Ensure policies and procedures of the TK / K are updated and implemented.
  • Keep up to date with research and best practices to improve knowledge and practice within the setting.
  • Oversee learning and play activities aligned with BGCSL and BGCA approaches.
  • Recruit and hire qualified YDPs in line with BGCSL policy.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff, ensuring job performance and annual reviews.
  • Safety :

  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and Site Safety & Operations Coordinator (SSOC) to ensure comprehensive safety plans and emergency procedures are in place.
  • Conduct regular safety drills (fire, earthquake, lockdowns) and update emergency preparedness plans.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, incident reports, and other relevant documentation.
  • Ensure all site staff are trained in first aid and CPR in collaboration with Operations / Human Resources.
  • Lead incident investigations at the site level and support the execution of corrective / preventative actions to ensure safety compliance.
  • Requirements :

    Qualifications & Experience :

  • Minimum of 48 collegiate units or an AA degree; a B.S. is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children aged 4-6.
  • Preference for experience in teaching content areas.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in staff management and team motivation.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :

  • Strong commitment to excellence in early childhood education and a deep interest in child development.
  • Positive attitude towards continuous learning, acquiring new skills, and ongoing management training.
  • Experience collaborating with professionals such as Family Support Workers, Social Workers, and teachers.
  • Competencies :

    Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with children, staff, and parents.

    Adaptability : Flexibility in responding to the changing needs of the program and children.

    Teamwork : Collaborative approach to working with staff, families, and external partners.

    Work Environment & Physical Demands :

  • Frequently required to stand.
  • Frequently required to walk.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
  • Continually required to talk or hear.
  • Rarely work in high, precarious places (playground equipment height).
  • Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials (communicable diseases in an office environment, including COVID-19, common cold, and flu viruses. Negative TB screen required).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 40-60 pounds (with support, a child that has fallen).
  • Specialized equipment : Walkie Talkie radios for communication.
