Job Summary
Substitute Special Education Paraeducator or Instructional Aide
Job Description / Essential Elements:
PrintOn call for Special Education Paraeducators for both elementary and secondary, at all school sites (San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, and Los Osos). You will be dealing with Special Education students (physical handicaps, emotional disturbances and/or learning disabilities), ages ranging from 3 to 22, under the direction of a Special Education teacher. Typical hours are 8:15am - 2:45PM, but can be for shorter periods of time. School days only.
You must pass a fingerprint clearance and TB test.
This is a substitute position with no guaranteed hours or benefits. You must be available at least 2 days per week.
Requirements / Qualifications
NCLB COMPLIANCE: ALL APPLICANTS MUST TEST OR SUBMIT A COPY OF ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: ASSOCIATE DEGREE, BACHELOR'S DEGREE, TRANSCRIPT, CBEST SCORES. NOTE: Applicants who possess an AA Degree, or who have two full years of college course work (48 semester units or 60 quarter units from an accredited college - courses with a grade of C or better will count) are not required to take the District’s written examination. If you wish to be waived from the written examination, please submit one of the above with your application. A written examination covering mathematics and writing skills required, by duties contained in the Class Specifications, will be given as needed. Written exam dates will be provided. Minimal written passing score is 70%.
