San Luis Valley Health is looking for a full-time Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources department. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for all payroll aspects for the organization as well as assist employees with payroll and tax related issues. This position will verify, analyze, and prepare payroll data using ADP to produce accurate and timely payroll while ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws. The Payroll specialist will prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for management. What You'll Need:
- Associate degree or higher with an emphasis in Accounting or Certified Payroll Professional preferred.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years payroll-specific experience required.
- General accounting experience three plus years preferred.
- Familiarity with multi-state payrolls, IRS tax forms, federal, state payroll practices and legal requirements.
- Strong diligence, organization, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be experienced using Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information and have professional customer service skills.
What You'll Do:
- Process bi-weekly payroll data for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with IRS, federal, and state regulations, as well as company policies.
- Serve as the primary resource for the ADP Time & Attendance system.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to maintain payroll accuracy.
- Perform audits and generate reports to support payroll operations and other departments within the company.
- Execute various payroll functions, including garnishment orders, tax forms, and year-end W-2 preparation.
- Provide guidance on payroll procedures and processes.
- Maintain, update and audit payroll and employee records for new hires, terminations, garnishments, levies and company and employee directed changes, as necessary.
- Investigate and resolve any payroll issues.
