ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DECISION MAKING
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Patrol all city facilities, parks, streets, and surrounding areas by foot, kayak, ATV, vehicle, or motorcycle, to ensure the safety of citizens. Enforces city ordinances and state laws. Issues verbal and written warnings, parking citations, and criminal citations, remove and/or arrest violators. Works special events. Works directly with the public to ensure proactive voluntary compliance with city ordinances and state laws. Regulates parking issues by several methods including, but not limited to, traffic control, signage, road barrier controls, citations, and physical controls. Coordinates with internal and external agencies for special events and emergencies. Attends meetings and training sessions, as required. Performs security duties for the municipal court as needed. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally. Subject to vision, hearing, and talking constantly; standing, walking, and handling frequently; sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, fine dexterity, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, and foot controls occasionally; running occasionally.
Working conditions include exposure to variable and/or extreme weather conditions, infectious diseases, and potentially hostile/violent individuals are involved.
Public Contact
Ability to take appropriate actions during citizen contacts. Considerable knowledge of methods used with the public regarding city ordinances and state law to gain compliance. Extensive contacts with various diversified sectors of the public environment; wherein, the contacts are of major importance .

- Knowledge of the use and care of equipment and vehicles used by the Marshal’s Office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Basic Certification as a Texas Peace Officer is required.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record in compliance with the City’s driving policy.
- 2 years of honorable service with a Law Enforcement agency.
- Ability to swim is required.
- TCOLE Peace Officer license, Basic or higher is required.
- Complete the ATV Safety Institute course within 12 months of employment.
- Must be able to successfully complete the department’s Field Training Program in six months or less.
- Ability to commit for two full calendar years on patrol prior to transferring to another division is preferred.
