The San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office is offering full-time career opportunities to those who want to serve as Peace Officers for the County and its residents. Currently, Deputy Sheriff positions are being offered in Operations, Detentions, Telecommunications, and Court Services.
Non-Certified (SWORN) Deputies are salaried between $63,294 to $87,285 annually, depending on experience and level of training. If you are a career-minded person but have no experience, take advantage of our In-Service Training Program to build on your experience and start YOUR career TODAY! Non-Certified Deputies will also have the opportunity to earn full sponsorship from the San Miguel County Sheriff's Office to attend a regional police academy and receive a Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Certified (SWORN) Deputies are salaried between $64,875 to $89,419 annually, depending on experience and level of training. If you are a Certified Deputy and are willing to make a lateral transfer to San Miguel County or the immediate surrounding area, you can receive a $2,500 signing bonus to join our team! Make an additional $2,500 bonus if you possess a Bilingual Certification. Deputies within the Operations Section, receive a housing allowance between $800 to $1200 per month, based on the location and response zone they reside in within the county.
Out-of-state lateral transfers are welcome and education will be provided to “challenge” the Colorado Peace Officers Standards and Training written and practical exams.
