Position Summary :
The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacists in the drug distribution process.
Essential Functions of the Job :
- Counts, packages, pre-packages, and labels medication for inspection by pharmacist and fills routine orders for non-prescription pharmaceuticals.
- Inputs patient and prescription data into the pharmacy computer system to process prescriptions and maintain patient profiles.
- Assists and serves patients.
- Assists in the ordering, stocking, and maintenance of drug inventory.
- Bills and adjudicates prescription claims.
- Assists in the preparation of reports and written documentation, as required by the department, company, state and federal agencies.
- Assists pharmacists as directed.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities :
Job Requirements
Education Required (Minimum level of education) :
High school or equivalent Pharmacy technician program.
Certifications / Licenses Required :
Pharmacy technician license from CA Board of Pharmacy.
Experience Required (Minimum level of experience) :
Completion of Pharmacy Technician intern hours.
Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job :
Bilingual (English / Spanish) required. Good oral and written communication.
Physical Activities :
Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job :
Excellent oral and written communication, familiarity with Medi-Cal Program preferred. Medical terminology.
Equipment Used :
Personal Computer, computer and pharmacy software programs.
