Overview
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides direct clinical services to patients with substance use and co-occurring psychiatric and medical conditions. Responsibilities include assessing patients, collaboratively developing and implementing treatment plans, prescribing medications, monitoring and evaluating treatment progress and collaborating with Sana’s Chief Medical Officer and multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, takes initiative and approaches patients with compassion and empathy.

Duties
· Conducts patient assessments and provides therapeutic interventions including the provision of ongoing medication management services in collaboration with Sana’s Chief Medical Officer
· Provides psychiatric health services, education, counseling and emotional support to patients
· Develops and implements patient management plans and assists in provision of continuity of care
· Orders, reviews, interprets and explains laboratory results to patients
· Provides patient education regarding medications, risks, benefits and reasonable outcome expectations
· Maintains timely documentation of services including weekly progress notes, medication informed consent, discharge summaries and other required information in compliance with organization, State and federal standards
· Facilitates psychoeducation groups 11-2 times per week
· Provides primary medical care services as needed, in accordance with statues, regulations and protocols regulating the profession
· Maintains confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
Qualifications:
· Master of Science in Nursing, with Psychiatric/Mental Health emphasis, from an accredited college or university.
· Active Vermont State license as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in good standing with no restrictions or stipulations
· Experience in behavioral health, addiction medicine, medically supervised withdrawal management or primary care preferred
· One or more years’ experience as a Psychiatric NP
· Active DEA License
Skills/Abilities
· Knowledge of substance use disorders
· Knowledge of the recovery field
· Ability to maintain ethical and professional boundaries with clients and staff members
· Knowledge of the process and symptoms of acute withdrawal from substances
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
· Must be organized and detail oriented
· Critical thinking and problem solving skills
· Pass a background check and pre-employment health screening
Working Conditions and Physical demands:
