Job Summary:
Sanbell is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting/Payroll Specialist to join a dynamic team in our Billings, Montana office. This role will report to the Director of Finance and support the accounting, payroll and project management functions across the entire firm. Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Process routine accounting transactions for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Organize and maintain accounting records and data
- Process accounting of payroll, calculating gross pay, deductions, net pay, and managing payroll changes like salary adjustments, new hires and terminations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll tax requirements
- Assist in managing employee benefit programs, including 401(k), group insurance and paid time off.
- Review and verify timesheet data, reconcile discrepancies and ensure compliance company policies
- Assist with accounts receivable cycle; preparation of invoices and collections, process incoming payments, prepare bank deposits and reconciliations
- Assist with accounts payable cycle; receiving and reviewing vendor invoices and expense reports, obtaining necessary approvals and processing for payment
- Assist Finance Director with general account analysis and reconciliations, preparation of accounting reports, and annual audits
- Conduct training for new employees and handle employee inquiries on payroll and expense procedures.
- Assist with general office administration, as needed
Minimum Education Requirements:
- AS or BS in Accounting or Business or 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience
Required Qualifications (skills/experience/certifications):
- Demonstrated experience in accounting, payroll, or related financial functions
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and reliable, with a commitment to accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to interact professionally across all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Hands-on experience with accounting and payroll software applications
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams)
- Solid understanding of financial principles, accounting best practices, and payroll regulations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive financial data with a positive and professional attitude
Preferred Qualifications (skills/experience/certifications):
- Knowledge of Deltek VantagePoint and UKG Ready
- Experience in a professional services firm
