Summer Camp Enrichment Specialist
$20-$25 per hour, based on experience
Description
The Summer Camp Coach Enrichment Specialist aka “Coach,” is primarily responsible for planning and implementing engaging and age-appropriate academic and enrichment activities for elementary and middle school students in the Sanctuary on 8th Street Summer Camp.
At the Sanctuary, we provide guidance and support to our camp staff in a fun and rewarding work environment. We often have staff return for multiple years of summer camp because they enjoy the job, the kids, and the Sanctuary's positive culture. There is also the opportunity for summer camp staff to apply to work part-time during the school year as After School Program staff, if they are interested, and many have done so.
Duties
Supervise and ensure the safety of students at all times.
Design and lead age-specific academic activities that are fun and engaging for students in a summer camp environment. This may include but is not limited to activities in the areas of STEM, literacy, and social studies. This must include project-based learning.
Attend staff trainings and meetings to ensure proper implementation of the curriculum activities.
Give feedback to Executive Director and Lead Teacher on the success of activities to ensure highest quality programming.
Reports to Executive Director. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The position requires a Level 2 background screening.
Applicants must have a valid Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from work.
Must be able to work from 8am-5pm during the 6-week summer camp, June 2 – July 11. There is no camp June 19th or July 4th. There will also be some mandatory training prior to the start of camp.
Must be comfortable working with K-8 youth, including low-income population youth.
A coach must be a team-player who shows up on time and is dependable, flexible, patient, and energetic. Must be dedicated to the mission of the Sanctuary on 8th Street.
