Position Overview:
The Vice President of Accounting and Finance is a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing all accounting and financial operations for both the individual clubs and corporate office. This role will be pivotal not only in accounting management but also in driving the financial growth of the organization through investment management. As Common House expands rapidly, this individual will play a critical role in shaping the company’s financial future. The Vice President of Accounting and Finance will be responsible for the following:
Accounting & Operational Controls
- Overseeing accounts payable/receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices, expense reports, and reimbursements.
- Resolving billing discrepancies with vendors and service providers.
- Conducting monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and the general ledger.
- Adhering to accounting standards and implementing internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Supporting audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Finance & Strategic Planning
- Managing budget tracking and cash flow, maintaining financial stability.
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external reporting.
- Developing pro formas for potential new club sites.
- Leading weekly, monthly, and annual forecasting strategies to assess the health of the business.
- Overseeing variance reporting and educating team members on the importance of sound financial management.
Cap Table Management & Compliance
- Maintaining and updating the company’s cap table, keeping accurate records of equity issuances, transfers, and ownership changes.
- Collaborating with legal and finance teams to process equity grants.
- Working with external advisors to uphold regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Preparing and submitting required corporate filings.
- Assisting with audit processes as needed.
To be successful in this role, you must be:
- An Experienced Practitioner- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or commensurate experience is required. We are seeking someone with a minimum of 6-10 years' demonstrated experience in accounting, bookkeeping, financial administration, and management.
- Numbers Obsessed- This role is all about the numbers. You will lead all accounting and reporting functions, providing critical insight to the board and leadership team. With a deep focus on metrics and performance, you will help shape the financial strategy that supports Common House’s growth and success.
- A Hospitality Guru - This role blends financial expertise with a deep understanding of hospitality operations. By partnering with operational leaders, you will balance cost efficiency with service excellence, using data-driven insights to optimize performance across multiple locations. Your ability to translate complex financial information into actionable strategies will drive both profitability and an elevated hospitality experience.
- Tech-savvy - You know your way around various accounting and finance software, including QuickBooks and Xero. You can also easily navigate cap table management tools, such as Carta. Your Excel/Google Sheets skills will be key for data analysis, budgeting, and creating insightful reports.
- A Hands-On Leader- You will lead by example, balancing high-level strategy with a willingness to dive into the details. Whether reviewing financial statements, resolving billing issues, or mentoring junior accountants, you are just as comfortable rolling up your sleeves as you are presenting insights to the board. You thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment where no task is too big or small, and your ability to execute at both a strategic and tactical level will be critical to Common House’s continued growth.
