UZURV’s platform combines rideshare with specialty credentialed, drug and alcohol-tested drivers to provide safe, reliable mobility and a higher level of care for the transportation disadvantaged. A little bit about the role…

As an innovative, mission-driven organization experiencing rapid growth, UZURV is seeking a strategic and experienced legal professional to help us navigate the evolving regulatory landscape, mitigate risk, and safeguard the organization’s interests as we scale. The VP of Legal Affairs will develop and implement legal, compliance, and regulatory strategies that align with our business objectives while ensuring operational excellence across all legal functions. Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Legal Affairs will be responsible for the following:

Legal, Compliance & Risk Leadership

• Developing and leading legal, compliance, and regulatory strategies that align with business goals and minimize risk.
• Advising the executive team and Board on legal matters, ensuring adherence to regulations and fostering a culture of ethics and integrity.
• Overseeing corporate policies, programs, and training to maintain compliance and mitigate legal exposure.

Risk & Litigation Management

• Identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal risks across contracts, IP, litigation, employment, and governance.
• Managing disputes, claims resolution, and corporate investigations, engaging outside counsel as needed.
• Overseeing litigation strategy to ensure cost-effective resolutions and minimize business impact.

Contract & Transactional Oversight

• Leading contract review, drafting, and execution for commercial and vendor agreements.
• Providing legal counsel on corporate transactions, including M&A and capital raising, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Overseeing intellectual property protection, licensing agreements, and trademark or patent filings.

Compliance & Regulatory Affairs

• Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, collaborating with HR and Compliance teams.
• Staying ahead of legal and regulatory changes, implementing processes to ensure swift adaptation.
• Supporting legal research for geographic and business expansion.

Governance & Corporate Structure

• Partnering with the CFO and outside counsel to maintain corporate governance compliance and Board documentation.
• Advising on corporate structure, including subsidiary and joint venture formations, to support growth.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Serving as the primary liaison between UZURV and external legal counsel.
• Fostering relationships with regulators and industry associations.
• Translating complex legal issues into clear guidance for non-legal stakeholders.

We are excited about you because…

• You have 10 years of experience in corporate law, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in a similar industry.
• You have J.D. from an accredited law school and a valid state bar membership.
• You have deep expertise in business and commercial law, with a strong background in risk management, corporate transactions, and litigation.
• You possess extensive experience in corporate governance and regulatory compliance, including government contracts (transportation industry experience is a plus).
• You excel in negotiation, communication, and presenting complex legal matters with clarity.
• You thrive when working with executive leadership teams and are able to balance legal and regulatory considerations with business objectives, helping to drive decision-making.
• You operate with the highest ethical standards, professionalism, and discretion.
• You are a strategic problem solver who can develop practical, mission-driven solutions.
• You are a proven leader with strong management and mentoring skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
