Position Overview:
The General Ledger Manager at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is responsible for overseeing the financial integrity and accuracy of the general ledger while managing and mentoring the General Ledger Staff. This role ensures the timely and accurate completion of financial reports, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities. The Senior Staff Accountant collaborates with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making and maintain compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide leadership to General Ledger Staff, including training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and recommendations.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
- Develop and implement accounting procedures and internal controls to enhance financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Stay current with accounting regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and develop a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
