Job Summary:
The Human Resources Manager at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is responsible for overseeing daily HR functions, ensuring compliance with labor laws, managing payroll processes, and supporting employee relations. This role requires in-depth knowledge of domestic and international labor laws, payroll management, and employment regulations. The HR Manager will play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture while supporting the resort’s operational and strategic HR initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all HR operations, including employee relations, compliance, payroll, benefits administration, and talent management.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, equal employment practices, and workplace safety standards.
- Manage payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate compensation, while adhering to legal and tax requirements.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to support company goals and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR-related matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for international recruitment and hiring efforts, ensuring best practices are followed in candidate selection, onboarding and housing.
- Lead and oversee training and development initiatives to enhance employee engagement and professional growth.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop workforce planning strategies and retention initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with visa and work permit requirements for international employees, working with legal counsel as needed.
- Maintain accurate HR records, reports, and documentation in compliance with labor laws and company policies.
- Handle employee grievances and investigations, ensuring fair and consistent resolution.
- Monitor HR trends and industry best practices to enhance the resort’s HR functions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources, with at least 2 years in a management role.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. labor laws, payroll regulations, and international employment laws.
- Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and benefits administration.
- Strong understanding of visa sponsorship, work permits, and international employment compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR technology systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of ADP is highly desired.
- Experience in the hospitality, resort, or tourism industry.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Office setting with occasional need to visit different resort locations.
- Ability to sit, stand, and move around the property as needed.
