What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Coordinator/Nurse Educator position at Sandhills Community College?
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manages and coordinates clinical experiences throughout the curriculum.
Requests clinical sites/observation experiences from FHMRH and makes periodic clinical site visits to assure adequacy of clinical instruction and of the clinical experience.
Orients new faculty to Clinical Nurse Educator role at FHMRH, including all relevant policies and procedures.
Supervises and evaluates clinical instruction in collaboration with the course coordinators and Nursing Department Chair.
Plans clinical rotations for all ADN students in collaboration with course coordinators.
Assures compliance with agency requirements such as immunizations, orientations, etc. for faculty and students.
Coordinates enrollment for EPIC and teach the EPIC classes, as needed, to instructors and students.
Evaluates clinical activities and progression related to course and program objectives.
Maintains and builds rapport with nursing school liaison and unit nurse managers. Troubleshoot any clinically related issues with students/faculty/staff/preceptors.
Evaluates clinical activities at FHMRH for effectiveness and appropriateness.
Supervises, teaches, and evaluates ADN students in clinical setting.
Become a contributing member of pertinent councils at FHMRH (Nurse Practice Council &/or Research Council) and communicate relevant updates to faculty.
Reviews evaluations of clinical sites by students and faculty and provides feedback to the agency and program.
Revises, reviews or develops policies and procedures and forms related to Clinical experiences.
Posts up to date information related to clinical for NUR faculty (NUR Dept Moodle or Nursing Share Files).
Collects and presents data related to clinical activities and operations.
Seeks internal and external resources to further develop clinical learning activities, inclusive of simulation.
Provides didactic instruction as assigned by Nursing Department Chair as needed.
Develops clinical schedules in collaboration with course coordinators and clinical sites.
Presents a professional commitment to scholarship, fosters enthusiasm, and advocates for enriched clinical experiences to meet educational objectives of the nursing curriculum.
Remains current in best practice techniques related to clinical through participation in professional development activities and membership in professional organizations. Disseminates current best practice technique references and research related to clinical learning activities to nursing faculty.
Demonstrates an awareness of professional and ethical standards and assures adherence to applicable regulations in the clinical setting.
Collaborates with Nursing Department Chair regarding recruitment of clinical faculty and participates in interviews.
Participates in ongoing curriculum evaluation and recommend curriculum changes as appropriate to changing needs of the program.
Complies with the SCC Teaching Faculty Policy Agreement and maintains a current Nursing Faculty Portfolio.
Meets North Carolina Board of Nursing continued competency requirements.
Maintains American Heart Association BLS with AED.
Submits results of an annual tuberculin skin test and meets immunization and professional requirements set forth by clinical agencies utilized in the program as applicable.
Participates in the:
Formulation and implementation of the philosophy and objectives of the total educational program.
Evaluation of the effectiveness of the total educational program.
Improvement of the educational program.
Placement process of entering students.
Faculty committees.

Participates in professional development activities to keep up with innovative practices that improve teaching and learning.
Maintains office hours which facilitate student and faculty access.
Maintains open lines of communication via email/Moodle with students, faculty, staff, administration, and community members.
Possesses a strong commitment to the mission of community colleges. Serves on college committees as appointed and assigned. Participate in clinical agency, course, and program committee meetings.
Current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
A graduate degree with a major in nursing from an accredited institution (will consider applicant within a semester of graduation).
Minimum of 2calendar years or equivalent of full-time experience in acute direct patient care clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse.
Experience teaching at the prelicensure nursing level preferred.
Must:
meetNorth Carolina Board of Nursing requirements for preparation in teaching learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation appropriate to assignment. (21NCAC 36.0318 (3) Faculty)
